As an Optical Line System Architect in Nokia's Optical Networks Group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of DWDM communication systems. You will collaborate closely with Systems Engineering and Software Development teams to architect innovative optical hardware and software platforms that meet stringent product requirements. Your technical leadership will drive the design of DWDM line systems, focusing on the complex interplay of transmission characteristics and control systems. Responsibilities Lead the architecture and design of advanced DWDM optical communication systems, focusing on innovative hardware and software integration. Collaborate closely with Product Line Management to define and refine product requirements based on market needs. Analyze and optimize the transmission characteristics of fiber and line system elements, ensuring quality signal power and OSNR performance. Develop and validate distributed control systems for optical line systems with cross-functional SW development and testing teams. Create system design rules and performance models to enhance product reliability and efficiency. Engage with key customers to demonstrate cutting-edge optical transmission technologies and gather feedback. Mentor junior team members and promote a collaborative, cross-cultural team environment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in DWDM system design and implementation processes. Qualifications Ph.D. in Optics/Engineering or M.S. in Optics/Electrical Engineering 5 years of experience In-depth knowledge of DWDM systems and transmission fiber effects Hands-on experience with coherent transponders, EDFAs, Raman amplifiers, and ROADMs Proven ability to architect and validate distributed control systems It would be nice if you also had: Experience with advanced coherent modulation formats in long haul systems Familiarity with closed loop and open loop control systems Exceptional communication and presentation skills Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams
