Role Overview
Thorn SDS, a specialist provider of operations engineering support in the Space Sector, are on the hunt for a skilled System Operations Engineer to join our team, supporting ongoing operations and preparations for future Earth observation missions.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a team which is involved in both routine operations and operations preparation for upcoming missions, including a future launches.
This position requires a systems engineer with strong operational and analytical experience in Earth Observation (EO) Ground Segments, ideally with exposure to both mission operations and systems development.
We also encourage applications from engineers with experience of interpreting space systems analytics or s with ground segment experience.
The languages of the workplace are English and French. The working language on this Mission is English and you must be able to communicate effectively in a fast paced, highly technical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine operations for current GEO satellites
Lead or support operations preparation activities for new satellite missions
Manage and monitor ground segment systems, including:
Ground Stations
Data Processing Systems
Central Monitoring Systems
Contribute to the implementation, validation, and evolution of new system components
Document system workflows, configurations, and procedures
Deliver training and knowledge transfer to operational personnel
Present operational insights and updates to internal stakeholders
Participate in anomaly investigations and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Engineering degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience in Earth Observation ground segment operations, preferably in a mission-critical or real-time environment on a GEO mission
Solid understanding of ground segment architecture, including:
Communication networks
Monitoring & Control systems
Data archiving and dissemination
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with the verification, validation, and transition of EO systems to operational use
Ability to effectively present technical information and engage with multi-disciplinary stakeholders
Comfortable working both independently and in cross-functional teams.
