Your area of work:
We have an opportunity for a legal counsel with 3-5 years of expertise to join Clearstream Legal team. The role contributes to business success by providing dedicated legal advice to Clearstream’s businesses which include custody of funds units/shares, securities related settlement activities, asset servicing, distribution of investment fund and custodian services. The core activities are to act as legal contact for Clearstream business primarily in Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland and take responsibility for the provision of legal advice as well as identification of legal risks with a view to design and implement measures to reduce and/or manage those risks, while working closely with peers and stakeholders throughout the organization locally and globally.
Your responsibilities:
1. Provide legal assessments and advice to various stakeholders within the organization
2. Advise on and coordinate legal tasks in relation to local and cross border projects
3. Draft and negotiate agreements between Clearstream and its customers
4. Seek new ways of achieving improved outcomes (where feasible) and provide legal opinion and views as necessary
5. Assist on the development and implementation of technological solutions within the organization
6. Support the business regarding the implementation of requirements pursuant to new industry and contract laws and regulations
7. Attend and actively contribute to internal committees, steerco’s, working groups and standing meetings in relation to commercial undertakings
Your profile:
8. Fully qualified lawyer holding a Master of Law degree or equivalent
9. 3-5 years working experience in an international law firm or in the financial industry, preferably in Luxembourg or Germany
10. Knowledge of relevant Luxembourg legal and regulatory environment and an interest in technological development in the financial sector
11. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
12. Proactivity and problem-solving attitude
13. Strong drafting skills are essential
14. Fluent in both written and spoken English and German
