About the role As a Data Engineer (m/w/x) in our team, you will be the linchpin of our data strategy. You will work across all of our products, overseeing the entire data landscape to transform raw information into valuable, actionable knowledge. Your primary focus will be to drive our data-driven development culture forward by mentoring your colleagues and ensuring we gain deep insights into product performance and user behavior. This role will challenge you to solve problems that have no current solutions by developing new models in a truly pioneering domain and implementing them in real-world scenarios. Tasks and responsibilities A key responsibility will be to develop, enhance, and deploy innovative machine learning models, with a special focus on human movement recognition. You will design, build, and maintain robust and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for our product portfolio. You will be tasked with analyzing and visualizing large-scale, aggregated data from our products to uncover trends and generate actionable insights. You will be responsible for presenting complex data insights in a clear and compelling way to various stakeholders to help drive strategic, data-informed decisions. You will drive innovation by partnering with your colleagues to co-develop new methods and models, a process that involves both sharing your existing knowledge and exploring new frontiers together as a team. Requirements for the role Your Experience & Expertise: 5 years of professional experience in Date Engineering, with a proven track record of successfully designing, building, and deploying machine learning models into production environments. Expertise in working with complex time-series data, from ingestion and storage to feature engineering and analysis. Hands-on experience in designing and implementing robust ETL/ELT processes to ensure clean, reliable data for our ML models and analytics. Your Technical Toolkit: Machine Learning: Deep proficiency in Python and its core ML libraries, particularly PyTorch and TensorFlow. Databases & Data Handling: Strong command of relational databases like PostgreSQL. Experience with database migration tools like Alembic is a plus. DevOps & Cloud: Solid skills in containerization with Docker and Docker Compose. You have practical experience deploying and managing applications on AWS, Azure or similar cloud platforms. Backend & Real-Time Communication: Knowledge of real-time communication protocols such as MQTT and WebSockets. Familiarity with a compiled language like Go (Golang) is desirable. Data Visualization: Experience with data exploration and visualization platforms like Tableau, Looker, Apache Superset and similar. Your Professional Attributes & Logistics: Work Authorization: You possess a valid work permit and residency title for Germany (Arbeitsgenehmigung und Aufenthaltstitel). Language Skills: You have strong communication skills in English. German language skills are not a requirement but are considered a significant advantage.
