The Organizational Development Department for the City of Georgetown is offering one (1) internship position to help support the Business Improvement Program, the Performance Management Program, and Learning and Development by performing a variety of project management and specialized professional-level administrative support tasks. The intern will also learn about the other functions of the Organizational Development Department, including coordinating with various departments and conducting varying levels of analysis regarding a variety of improvement efforts. The student intern would be working primarily in an office environment.
The internship’s anticipated start date is January 12, 2026, and the anticipated end date is May 15, 2026. The internship is approximately 32-40 hours per week for approximately 18 weeks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists in learning and development initiatives, which may include training, development, and delivery, event planning, and working within the learning management system
2. Assists in the preparation and coordination of various reports and initiatives
3. Assists in project management activities, including project planning, research, data collection, and report preparation
4. Works on and manages assigned improvement projects, which may include the facilitation and use of tools and techniques that promote continuous improvement
5. Effectively organizes and prioritizes multiple assignments and projects
6. Provides professional-level support to Organizational Development and performs skilled administrative, operational, and consulting duties (e.g., conducts and analyzes research, program development, project management/coordination, shares best practices, and conducts focus groups)
7. Makes both formal and informal presentations to staff members, officials, and the general public
8. Maintains current knowledge of city administrative procedures
9. Perform other duties as assigned
10. Help maintain the internal website
Specific activities may include:
11. Update templates and boards within Monday.com task management system
12. Facilitate SWOT and or action planning workshops to groups of varying sizes
13. Build marketing and outreach materials using Canva
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience:
14. Third- or fourth-year student pursuing a four-year Bachelor's degree, or currently enrolled in a Master’s program, in one of the following fields (or a related discipline): Human Resources, Business or Public Administration, Economics, Psychology, Math, or Sociology;
OR
15. A transitioning military service member with relevant experience, skills, or training applicable to the internship role.
Knowledge of:
16. Good customer service practices and principles
17. Best practices for working with data
18. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Monday.com
Skills in:
19. Continual attention to detail: must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to prioritize duties and juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
20. Ensuring outstanding customer service
21. Communicating diverse content and responding effectively, both orally and in writing
22. Using a computer and utilizing Microsoft Office applications, including advanced word processing/desktop publishing, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
23. Microsoft Power BI, Visio, and or survey platform skills are helpful
24. Reading, analyzing, and interpreting procedure manuals, reports, memos, correspondence, and other documents
25. Data analysis and problem-solving
26. Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
27. Effectively articulating and presenting information to management
28. Using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives
29. Accurately recording and maintaining records
30. Must be comfortable speaking with new people in person, via telephone, and through e-mail communication
31. Strong interpersonal skills: the ideal person for this job would be a team player, personable, professional, upbeat, and energetic, takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy
32. Work with minimal supervision and direction
SCHEDULE
33. The internship will consist of 32-40 hours per week.
34. The duration of the internship is anticipated to last from January 12, 2026, to May 15, 2026. The last 2 weeks will be flexible to allow time for finals if needed.
35. Deadlines and schedules will be developed with the intern and supervisor.
36. Dependable transportation is required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three (3) year driving history.

EMPLOYMENT TESTING
Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment drug testing, criminal background investigation, and driving record check.
Hiring Range: $15.00, hourly.
