The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. In this role as an engineering Working Student, you will promote the design, prototyping, and manufacturing of world-class, high-precision mechanical systems. This is a dynamic position for a person to collaborate as part of Corning Precision Connectivity engineering team. u202f Tasks: Primary duties will involve supporting multi-disciplinary project teams to design, study, engineer & build precision mechanical components throughout the development process from conception to delivery. u202f Qualifications: Student of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering / Technology student. Basic comprehension of mechanical design practices, mechanical fabrication, and assembly techniques. High level of technical curiosity and ability to learn, develop, and advance technical skills in mechanical design, precision engineering and product development. Strong written and oral communication skills. u202f Desired Skills: Ability to develop basic process knowledge to validate design approach. Poise in interaction with multiple levels of the organization. Experience with 2D and 3D mechanical design/CAD software packages such as Solidworks and CREO Parametric. Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing according to ASME Y14.5-2009. Ability to function on a product development team of multi-disciplinary engineers. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Working knowledge of tools such as Excel and/or databases. Knowledge of Molding manufacturing process is a plus.
