KG Organization Grid Technologies Business Unit Digital Grid Full / Part time Full-time Experience Level Experienced Professional A Snapshot of Your Day As Lead Engineer (f/m/d) for Relay Protection and Control (RPC) and being a part of the Grid Automation team, you will be working on RPC system creation and design accommodating customer specific requirements and create tailor made solution for RPC systems for AIS and GIS High Voltage substations. Your technical scope will include all RPC devices within the switchgear secondary system. You will support both the tendering process and the order execution phase as well as advise our customers on selecting the most efficient and optimal relay protection and control systems. In presentations and customer meetings, you showcase the advantages of the solutions and discuss technical details. You coordinate subcontractors and ensure their quality.Your direct duties will be to create a system architecture for relay protection and control system for HV Substations, select the network topology, configure relay protection and control devices and select their parameters, ensure overall connectivity and functionality of the RPC system and its connectivity and integration with Substation Automation System (SAS) and SCADA. You will also do basic and detailed design of RPC system, select equipment for RPC cubicles, do the RPC system cubicles design ensuring connectivity with other HV Substation systems.The projects you will work on are primarily located in DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).How You’ll Make an Impact
7. Analyze customer technical specifications and develop suitable concepts and solutions for RPC systems in high‑voltage substations.
8. Design RPC system concepts and architecture, including technical documentation, diagrams, signal lists, and layout plans (circuit diagrams, LV equipment specification, Protection SLD, cubicle layouts, signal list, terminal connection list, etc.).
9. Preparation of the technical part of offers for RPC systems and conducting presentation and technical clarifications of technical solution to the external and internal stakeholders.
10. Development of Interface to other disciplines such as Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and Cybersecurity.
11. Program and parameterize RPC devices and provide technical supervision during installation, testing, and commissioning.
12. Improve engineering processes, compare technical solutions, and present system concepts during customer meetings as well as further development of efficiency enhancing measures in the engineering process.
What You Bring
13. University degree in electrical engineering or a similar field
14. Long term experience in working with relay protection and control systems and devices for High Voltage Substation applications as well as expertise in the field of power generation transmission and distribution
15. In depth knowledge of relay protection devices, software tools ( DIGSI), protection concepts and the associated testing equipment ( OMICRON) as well as bay control units from various manufacturers
16. Strong understanding of the market environment in the field of secondary technology
17. Excellent English and good German language skills along with presentation skills enabling effective communication in DACH region.
