Senior PCB Layout Engineer (Italy based)

Position Overview
This role requires translating schematic diagrams into PCB layouts, managing eCAD component libraries, and collaborating with Electronic Manufacturing Service partners for successful PCB manufacturing and assembly.
Key Responsibilities
Component Library Management
* Maintain and update the CAD components library with the latest footprints and 3D models.
* Collaborate with Mechanical and Thermal designers to introduce new components.
* Manage tools and workflows for synchronizing data across eCAD platforms.
* Oversee eCAD‑MCAD interoperability for seamless model exchange.
Schematic to PCB Design
* Translate schematics into layouts while adhering to SI, PI, and EMC/EMI guidelines.
* Optimize board utilization and stack‑up strategy, balancing electrical, mechanical, and thermal constraints.
* Design multi‑layer PCBs using Altium Designer, Xpedition, OrCAD, or KiCad.
Layout
* Design high‑speed layouts for LPDDR4+ and PCIe 3.0+ interfaces.
* Design low‑voltage (>1 V), high‑current delivery systems for GPUs and processors.
* Apply simulation‑driven design with HyperLynx, Keysight ADS, or equivalent.
Collaboration with EMS
* Prepare PCB designs for manufacturing with DFM/DFT guidelines.
* Support EMS during production, addressing technical issues.
Test and Validation
* Coordinate functional, electrical, and mechanical validation on final boards.
Documentation
* Maintain complete design documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and manufacturing packages.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related; Master’s preferred.
* 5–10 years of PCB layout experience (multilayer, HDI).
* Proficiency with Altium, Xpedition, OrCAD, or KiCad.
* Strong in SI/PI/EMI‑compliant layout, stack‑ups, controlled impedance, and advanced via structures.
* Ability to balance electrical, thermal, and mechanical constraints.
* Solid knowledge of PCB manufacturing, DFM/DFT, and material selection.
* Hands‑on experience with LPDDR4+, PCIe 3.0+ interfaces and PDN design.
* Experience interpreting SI/PI simulations and co‑designing with simulation engineers.
* Experience with eCAD‑MCAD workflows (NX, Creo, SolidWorks).
* Familiar with VNA, TDR, scopes, logic analyzers, and relevant PCB standards.
* Understanding of thermal cycling, mechanical stress, and reliability testing.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Fluent in English; Chinese is a plus.
* Collaborative team player, capable of autonomous research and planning.
Location
Flexible working arrangement: work from an Axelera AI office in Italy (Milan or Florence), fully remote from Italy, or relocate locally. No new visa/work permit sponsorship is offered for this opportunity at this time.
