Job description
IT Architect (m/f/d)
Full Remote or Hybrid Hamburg
Stott and May are excited to be working with Innovative software business who are disrupting the Smart Homes Space. They help customers by making buildings more climate-friendly, more comfortable, and more affordable using Smart connected devices (IoT), simple products and high processing and service quality.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for an IT Architect to join the Team
Your mission
You will join the architects' team - three people in total, integrating the architecture across different parts of the group. Together, you will plan and drive the interoperability and migration of systems and also shape the technical direction that the engineering teams build on.
Responsibilities:
1. Act as the bridge between product requirements and the technical capabilities of their systems - surfacing trade-offs, unblocking decisions, keeping product and engineering aligned.
2. Facilitate the creation of technical concepts together with the engineering teams - and propose them ourselves when that is the fastest path forward, always open to feedback and discussion.
3. Contribute to our technical strategy and architectural vision, making sure today's decisions do not paint us into a corner tomorrow.
4. Stay hands-on when it matters - pairing with engineers on hard problems, prototyping, and reviewing critical designs.
5. Partner with our dedicated AI, infrastructure and other capability teams as active stakeholders - shaping what they build and helping put it to use across the company, ourselves included.
Experience
6. Relevant educational background (e.g. computer science, information systems, engineering) or equivalent experience.
7. Several years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a track record of working across multiple teams and domains.
8. Strong technical depth in distributed, event-driven systems on AWS - and a good sense of when to centralise and when to federate.
9. Strong soft skills: persuasion, stakeholder management, and facilitation. You can hold the room without owning it, and you align people rather than dictate to them.
10. Comfortable staying hands-on when needed - you can still write the code and read the diff.
11. Fluent communication skills in both English and German (C1 or better).
