Job Description
As a technical writer at TOMRA, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and reviewing technical documents, ensuring all materials are of a high quality and comply with the relevant rules, standards and regulations. You enjoy collaborating closely and working effectively in interdisciplinary teams and keep up to date with trends in technical documentation, such as multimedia documentation ( videos, tutorials). You're passionate about researching complex technical topics and bringing them to life via simple, coherent video tutorials.
Your responsibilities as a technical writer will include:
1. using our content management system (SCHEMA ST4) to create and revise our technical documents, including user manuals, pre-installation requirements (PIRs), software manuals, and service information,
2. creating graphics using SolidWorks composer and Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop,
3. independently researching and preparing technical information,
4. ensuring that our technical documentation complies with relevant standards and regulations,
5. translation management via CMS,
6. creating videos or tutorials using Premiere Pro and After Effects
7. keeping up to date with trends in technical documentation ( multimedia documentation, tutorials) and providing input for the optimization of our processes and tooling ( the usage of AI tools)
Qualifications
Candidates should possess one of the following:
8. a degree in technical writing, multimedia documentation, communication, translation, or related field
9. a technical background with further training as a technical writer ( TEKOM)
10. a vocational training as a technician with several years of experience as a technical writer
11. must be located close to Mülheim-Kärlich
Additionally the ideal candidate will have:
12. a high level of written and spoken English and German,
13. initial experience or familiarity with industry-standard tools such as CMS (Schema ST4), SolidWorks Composer, Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects), etc.
14. strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills in order to work effectively with other departments,
15. the ability to quickly analyze and understand technical information and convey it clearly and effectively to a target group,
16. prior professional experience in the field of technical documentation is an asset
17. good knowledge of relevant standards and regulations ( Machinery Directive)
