The Housing Data Science & Economics team
The team operates at the intersection of data science, economics and product. Our mission is to transform real estate data into actionable insights and decision-making tools, while positioning our platforms as the reference for housing market understanding.
We:
* Build and maintain market indicators (prices, rents, supply, demand, time on market…)
* Develop statistical and econometric models to understand market dynamics
* Translate insights into content, tools and product features used by millions of users
* Collaborate closely with Product, Business, Marketing and Data teams to maximize impact
* Contribute to strategic storytelling and market positioning of our brands
Mission & role :
As a Junior Economist for Germany, you will contribute to the analysis and modelling of housing markets, with a strong focus on Germany resale, rental & new build dynamics.
This role sits at the intersection of:
* Economic analysis & content (market insights, reports, storytelling)
* Data science & modelling (indicators, econometrics, price models)
* Product & business collaboration (integration of insights into tools and decision-making)
1. Your objective: help turn market data into insights, tools and actions that shape housing decisions.
1. Market analysis & indicators
* Contribute to the production and maintenance of housing market indicators (prices, rents, supply, demand, time on market)
* Support the development of new build (primary market) insights and metrics
* Analyze market dynamics (including credit conditions, demand signals, regional trends)
2. Data science & modelling
* Perform statistical and econometric analyses on large real estate datasets
* Contribute to price models, indices and estimation tools (AVM-type approaches)
* Ensure data quality, consistency and robustness of outputs
* Translate model outputs into interpretable economic insights
3. Content & market storytelling
* Produce clear and impactful analyses, reports and market updates
* Contribute to strategic content (PR, SEO, editorial, internal insights)
* Help position AVIV platforms as trusted experts of the housing market
4. Product & business collaboration
* Work closely with Product teams to integrate insights into user-facing tools and features
* Support Business teams (Sales, Strategy, Marketing) with data-driven insights
* Contribute to decision-making tools that guide sellers, buyers and professionals
* Participate in cross-functional projects linking data, product and business impact
5. Research & innovation
* Contribute to applied research projects (internal or with external partners)
* Support the development of new data-driven use cases and tools
* Participate in improving methodologies, models and data pipelines
Profile we are looking for:
Education & experience
* Master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Data Science or related field
* 0–2 years of experience (internship or first role) in data analysis / economic analysis
* Strong interest in housing markets and real estate economics
Technical & analytical skills
* Python (pandas, numpy) or R / Stata
* Basic SQL (data extraction, joins, aggregations)
* Knowledge of statistics and econometrics (regressions, hypothesis testing)
* Ability to work with large structured datasets
* Strong capacity to validate results and ensure economic consistency
Mindset & soft skills
* Strong interest in connecting data to real-world economic interpretation
* Ability to translate analysis into actionable insights
* Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with data, product and business teams
* Proactive and ownership-driven approach
* Clear communication skills for non-technical audiences
Languages
* English (required)
* German (strongly preferred)
* French is a plus
