SAP HCM Payroll Specialist (Germany) Location: Germany – Hybrid (North Rhine-Westphalia preferred; 2–3 days onsite per week) Type: Full-time, permanent A global engineering and manufacturing group is looking to hire an experienced SAP HCM Payroll Specialist to support and optimise their German payroll operations. The company runs SAP HCM on-premise and is committed to maintaining a robust, compliant payroll function tailored to local regulations and Works Council requirements. This role will join the in-house SAP team and partner closely with Payroll, HR Operations, and external providers. You’ll be responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, handling configuration, and maintaining compliance with evolving German legislation. Key Responsibilities Take end-to-end ownership of SAP HCM Payroll processes for German entities Maintain and enhance schemas, PCRs (Personnel Calculation Rules), wage types, and infotype configurations Troubleshoot payroll issues, manage corrections, and liaise with HR and Finance to resolve complex cases Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers (e.g. tax offices, insurance bodies) to support statutory reporting Monitor and support monthly payroll runs, perform data validation, and ensure clean year-end processing Support audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors, HR, and finance controllers Work with IT colleagues to maintain the interface landscape between SAP HCM and other systems (e.g., time tracking, finance) Stay up to date with legal changes impacting payroll and update system configuration accordingly Your Profile 5 years of hands-on experience with SAP HCM Payroll in Germany Deep understanding of German payroll legislation, tax/social security laws, and company agreements Proven ability to manage payroll schemas, rules, and wage type customisation Comfortable performing data validation, test runs, and reconciliation tasks Familiarity with SAP HR modules such as Time Management or PA/OM is a plus Experience with interface support (e.g., between SAP and external payroll vendors or finance tools) Fluent in German (written and spoken); solid English for internal communication across regions Reliable, detail-oriented, and confident handling sensitive personal and payroll data Why Join?
