The role is responsible for developing market opportunities and partnerships across the aluminium value chain, building solutions for OEM whilst advocating for the use of Rio Tinto product in the process. The role is equally responsible with technical marketing activities while closely working with our operations, S&M and product experts.The role will report to the Sr. Manager, Global Aluminum Technical Marketing.This role is a great opportunity for a driven and enterprising professional to join our business and will be:Develop and foster technical and strategic linkages with key strategic customers and end users to underscore Rio Tinto’s value proposition based on:Product performance and technical developmentSustainability/ESGInnovationBe the regional billet and rod subject matter expert to support our extrusion and wire customers.Support the commercial go-to-market strategy while evaluating customer segmentation, share of wallet/customer stickiness growth and brand positioningCreating opportunities for the commercial team to monetize and execute the overall technical marketing strategy.Support sales teams with creating prospects, value-in-use offerings and originating ready market options.Develop and advance joint development opportunities with end-user markets.Provide market intelligence on relevant extrusion and rod markets.Build a strong credible public profile for Rio Tinto Aluminium as a top tier quality supplier through advancing involvement in relevant European industry associations and committees.About youTo be successfully considered for this role, you will have:We are looking for candidates with a sound educational background and experience in material science and extrusion/rod process technology. At least 10 years of experience in the relevant products is required.Demonstrated creation of value in a commercial organisation.Strong understanding of dynamics in the aluminium industry and its commercial acumens.Familiar with continuous improvement methods (Lean Six Sigma green or black belt).Ability to undertake frequent travel (~50%).Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens well, then ask insightful questions to capture relevant decision-making data.Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Varies writing style to meet needs.Market development acumen - Doesn’t take things personally, knows what to say or do at the appropriate time; Is cool under pressure and is prepared for whatever the prospect or customer does or says; Doesn’t strategize "on the fly", and stays in the moment; Asks thoughtful questions, displays effective listening, demonstrates product value; Is tenacious, maintains continuous contact with prospects and clients to establish need(s); Demonstrates effectiveness in linking product features/benefits to client needs.The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player with an self-driven and flexible work attitude and is ready to adapt to international practices.It will also be beneficial if you have:Fluent abilities to converse in multiple European languages. #LI-HybridAbout Rio TintoRio Tinto is a leading global mining and materials company.
