The Cluster of Excellence for Plant Sciences CEPLAS (www.ceplas.eu) is a joint initiative of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, the University of Cologne, the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research Cologne, Forschungszentrum Jülich and IPK Gatersleben. CEPLAS develops innovative strategies for sustainable plant production.
Main tasks
Coordination of the international CEPLAS Graduate School
Recruitment of new PhD students
Support for new students and continuous support and guidance for the students throughout their doctoral phase
First point of contact for the students, also in case of conflict
Organization and continuous development of the qualification phase
Design and implementation of the training program, lab rotations, retreats, excursions and other events in cooperation with the CEPLAS Training Program for Postdoctoral Researchers and other Offices
Communication on Graduate School activities
Evaluation of the Graduate School and ongoing improvement of the program
Implementation of the CEPLAS research internship program
Support of other cluster activities
Your profile
PhD degree in biology (preferably in plant sciences) or a related discipline
High degree of self-initiative and individual responsibility
Excellent communication skills in English and fluent in German (spoken and written)
Ideally, professional experience in academic sector, knowledge of university structures
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to work in a team
Flexibility, both in terms of tasks and working hours
Readiness for mobility between the participating institutions is required
