Embrace Diversity and Innovation!
High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) is a key enabler for a carbon-neutral energy system. It is highly efficient for transmitting large amounts of electricity over long distances, integration of renewables and interconnecting grids, opening for new sustainable transmission solutions. By joining the HVDC team in Germany (DEHVDC), you will be contributing to the energy transition in Germany and around the world
The opportunity
As an R&D Engineer for System Design (f/m/d), you will play a key role in shaping the future of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology. You will drive innovation in area of Control Systems and Dynamic Performance for next-generation HVDC. You will support the development and validation of control strategies, contributing to simulation studies and performance analysis under the guidance of senior engineers. You’ll contribute to one or more areas like VSC HVDC and LCC HVDC converter topology design, control and protection, main circuit design, insulation coordination, and steady-state and dynamic stability analysis, harmonic analysis, and performance under various network conditions.
How You Will Make an Impact
 1. Assist in developing control algorithms and simulation models for MMC/LCC-based HVDC systems, including MTDC
 2. Perform small-signal stability analysis, harmonic studies, and transient simulations
 3. Support system-level performance studies and lab validations
 4. Address evolving customer requirements with a strong focus on both internal and external stakeholders
 5. Uphold Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility and showing care for colleagues and the business
 6. Be a collaborative team player in a supportive and agile environment
