Overview
Our client is a globally recognized, multi-strategy investment firm managing substantial institutional capital across private markets. The DACH investment team is currently deploying a multi-billion-euro vehicle focused on the European mid-cap space. Distinct from traditional buyout funds, this group operates with an agnostic, highly flexible capital mandate. They specialize in structuring bespoke capital solutions that span control equity buyouts, minority growth partnerships, and sophisticated preferred or downside-protected instruments.

This structural agility allows the firm to unlock complex, off-market opportunities and partner dynamically with founders navigating generational transitions, aggressive organic growth, or buy-and-build consolidation. The platform is distinctly positioned as a cross-border powerhouse in a market segment largely fragmented by regional players.

To spearhead the next phase of capital deployment in the German-speaking markets, the firm is seeking a senior investment professional (VP or Principal level) to be based in Munich. This is an entrepreneurial, full-lifecycle mandate demanding an exceptional blend of technical structuring expertise, proprietary deal origination capabilities, and active, board-level value creation.

Key Responsibilities

Bespoke Transaction Structuring: Architect and execute highly complex investment structures tailored to specific deal dynamics, seamlessly navigating the intersection of traditional private equity and structured capital.

End-to-End Execution Leadership: Drive holistic transaction processes from initial commercial evaluation to definitive documentation. Direct rigorous commercial, financial, and legal due diligence workstreams while managing cross-functional teams of elite external advisors.

Proprietary Origination: Cultivate and commercialize a deep, proprietary network of regional intermediaries, specialized advisors, and corporate management teams to systematically source off-market investment opportunities across the DACH landscape.

Investment Committee Advocacy: Synthesize multi-variable risk assessments, advanced financial modeling, and macroeconomic trends into compelling, institutional-grade memorandums, defending capital deployment strategies before the global committee.

Value Creation & Board Governance: Act as a lead operational partner post-close, holding formal board directorships. Collaborate intimately with C-suite leadership to drive strategic M&A initiatives, optimize operational efficiencies, and orchestrate highly accretive exit events.

Candidate Profile

Experience: A minimum of 8 years of rigorous transaction experience, ideally combining foundational training at a top-tier investment bank or premium strategy consultancy with active buyside tenure in mid-market private equity, special situations, or structured credit.

Market Integration: Deeply embedded within the DACH mid-market ecosystem, possessing an extensive and actionable network of deal-flow sources and market participants.

Technical Mastery: Demonstrable mastery of advanced capital structuring, possessing the analytical agility to model, value, and negotiate across the entire capital stack (from senior debt mechanisms to common equity).

Executive Presence: Exceptional commercial judgment and the gravitas necessary to negotiate complex partnership dynamics with seasoned founders, family-owned enterprises, and sophisticated co-investors.

Operating Style: A high-conviction, self-directed operator capable of navigating the ambiguities of proprietary deal-making while fostering a collaborative, low-ego culture within a lean local team.

Languages: Absolute fluency in both German and English (written and spoken) is strictly mandatory.

Education: Exceptional academic track record from a leading institution, with a willingness to travel extensively to portfolio companies and international offices.
