VORN Bioenergy is a leading biomethane producer and project developer, with over 40 biogas projects delivered in Germany and beyond, including Europe’s first biomethane plant in 2006. We have delivered biomethane plant development, construction, management, and optimisation across a 130+ MW project portfolio in six European markets and has an additional 90+ MW additional development pipeline. We’re continuing to grow our project portfolio, expanding into new markets across Europe. Working at VORN means being an active part of the green energy transition. Join us our mission to unlock the potential of biomethane across Europe and beyond.
We are looking for you as Chief of Staff / PMI & Transition Officer (m/f/d) in Regensburg or Düsseldorf.
Role Overview
The Chief of Staff will serve as a strategic advisor and operational leader, working closely with the CEO and executive team to drive key initiatives, enhance decision‑making, and ensure cross‑functional alignment. In addition, the role covers post‑merger integration and continuous transition across VORN: structuring and leading the integration of acquired/partnered asset portfolios (including governance, workstreams, and delivery tracking) and acting as a transition officer to drive a company‑wide change portfolio, ensuring initiatives are sequenced, communicated, and implemented effectively. This role requires a deep understanding of the biomethane and biogas sector, as well as exceptional analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment, can navigate complex regulatory landscapes, and has experience in international expansion and project development.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Execution: Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives supporting VORN’s pan‑European expansion. Support business development through research and analysis on growth opportunities, industry trends, and regulatory developments in the biomethane sector, and translate priorities into actionable plans with clear KPIs.
Operational Guidance: Streamline business processes to optimise performance and drive continuous improvement; monitor key operational metrics and provide regular reports to leadership; and support effective resource allocation and execution of critical projects.
Cross‑Functional Coordination & Communication: Serve as a primary liaison between the CEO and internal/external stakeholders; facilitate executive meetings and ensure follow‑through on decisions; prepare key reports, presentations, and communications; and lead the preparation and delivery of board and investor materials.
Post‑Merger Integration (PMI) & Asset Portfolio Integration: Design and run the PMI approach (integration thesis, governance, and workstream structure) for acquired/partnered asset portfolios across countries. Coordinate cross‑functional workstreams (operations, engineering, finance, commercial, IT/data, HSSE), manage interdependencies, and track synergies and value drivers through to a controlled handover into steady‑state operations.
Transition Officer / Continuous Change Management: Establish and drive an enterprise‑wide transition roadmap covering major change initiatives (process, systems, organization, governance). Set up practical change governance (cadence, reporting, decision forums), align owners and resources, manage risks and communications, and ensure adoption through clear milestones and escalation where needed.
Financial Planning & Business Analysis: Collaborate with the finance team to support budgets, forecasts, and financial models, and provide data‑driven insights to inform strategic partnerships and key business decisions.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation: Build and maintain relationships with customers, investors, government agencies, and industry partners across Europe; represent the company at key events, conferences, and regulatory discussions; and drive alignment between executive leadership and broader company initiatives.
