EMBL is Europe’s flagship life sciences organisation, and one of the world’s leading research institutions. We are looking for a creative communicator looking to gain experience across a range of external communications with a focus on social media and multimedia content creation. Your role You will be based at EMBL headquarters in Heidelberg, and work closely with colleagues in the EMBL Communications Department, who are located across all six EMBL sites. Your communications projects will span the whole organisation. You will create written and multimedia content to be used across a variety of channels, with a focus on social media. You will also gain insight into social media monitoring and analytics, assist with written and video interviews, and write longer form content for the EMBL website. We are an international, friendly and supportive team, with ties to scientists and professionals throughout European and global life sciences and supportive technologies. Responsibilities include: Supporting EMBL’s social media presence; specifically monitoring, creating, and posting content for EMBL channels on LinkedIn, Bluesky, X and YouTube Researching and developing written and visual content for external and internal communications, such as news articles, interviews, internal announcements Editing and fact checking documents and texts Providing social media analytics Creating graphics from templates and uploading digital content Video editing including the application of existing static and animated templates You have a bachelor or higher degree in (science) communications, journalism or a relevant scientific discipline excellent English writing and communication skills the ability to extract key messages from materials and articulate them in engaging ways experience in using social media experience in video creation and editing flexibility in working in a team and keeping track of multiple deadlines an interest in the life sciences is essential You may also have experience in the communications field knowledge of other European languages, especially German Application Instructions To apply, please send us your cover letter and resume.
