The FINATRAX Research Group is seeking a PhD candidate to work on crypto-asset transaction analysis at the intersection of data science, blockchain technology, and financial crime prevention. This project investigates how blockchain analytics and data engineering can enhance the detection of illicit activities across decentralised and increasingly complex networks.

As a PhD candidate, you will be enrolled in the PhD program in Computer Science and Computer Engineering with specialisation in Information Systems. You will work on a research project that aims to develop innovative analytics methods for detecting illicit activities in the crypto-asset ecosystem.
Throughout this project, you will conduct interdisciplinary research, analyse blockchain data, develop new analytics methods, contribute to the understanding of illicit financial flows, and collaborate with stakeholders active in financial regulation, compliance, and supervision.

Required Skills and Qualifications
* A Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science/Data Analytics, Mathematics, Information Systems (Engineering) or related disciplines
* Understanding of blockchain fundamentals
* Strong programming skills in at least one relevant language
* Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, or machine learning techniques
* Familiarity with handling large datasets
* Ability to work with data visualization tools
* Willingness to work in a highly interdisciplinary context
