NextGO Epi is a VC-backed spin-off from the Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ). We are a Berlin-based semiconductor startup delivering high-quality Gallium Oxide epiwafer for next-generation power electronics via the conventional metal-organic vapor deposition (MOCVD) process. NextGO Epi is the first and only company distributing Gallium Oxide material in Europe up to 4 inches, and we are partnered with global leaders in the semiconductor industry to bridge the gap between academic research and commercial scalability, ensuring a robust supply chain for the future of high-power applications.

Process Engineer (m/f/d)
Permanent, Full-time, and Onsite
„Gallium Oxide epitaxy process control”
(Job Description ID: JD-P-P-2026-04-00001)
More efficient power electronics are crucial for reducing harmful emissions through more efficient energy use and for increasing the cost-effectiveness of energy-intensive processes. Gallium oxide (Ga2O3) is currently the subject of intensive research and development in semiconductor power electronics. Its ultra-wide band gap enables an even more compact design and is therefore ideal for applications in power electronics.
NextGO Epi is hiring its first talent to scale up the Gallium Oxide epiwafer production on our commercial MOCVD tool. In this position, you have the opportunity to witness the scaling process (4 inches) of the next-generation semiconductor, and your contribution will be linked to the growth of the global Gallium Oxide supplier chain.
The key responsibilities of the student assistant will include:
* Process development for the epitaxial growth of β-Ga2O3
* Performing process-accompanying standard characterization (e.g., AFM, Ellipsometry, XRD, Hall-effect measurements)
* Quality control workflow establishment and documentation
The applicant must have the following minimum qualifications:
* A master’s degree and strong knowledge in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline
* Experience in experimental work, sample handling, and preparation
* Basic knowledge of the fundamental epitaxy mechanism
* Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and students
* Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written in English
* Effective analytic and problem-solving skills
In addition, some of the following skills and qualifications would be preferred:
* Experience in epitaxial growth, preferably of oxides
* Experience in semiconductor physics with respect to electrical transport
NextGO Epi actively supports a healthy work-life balance and is an equal opportunity employer. Female candidates are encouraged to apply and will be given preference if suitably qualified. Among equally qualified candidates, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities. NextGO Epi promotes diversity. We welcome every qualified application, regardless of age, belief, disability, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, religion, or sexual orientation. Please note that as a semiconductor company with dual-use products, our hiring process is subject to compliance with applicable export control regulations."
