This role involves strategizing, defining, and managing robotics software development within the Amazon Logistics Innovation Engineering team, influencing the last mile automation roadmap by collaborating with Robotics, Software Tech Teams, Process Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams to enhance the customer shopping experience.Key job responsibilitiesAs a System Development Engineer, you will work on complex mechatronic products. Essential skills include:Advanced expertise in industrial automation systems (TIA Portal 16+, Codesys 3.5, HMI, VFDs, Servo Drive, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, IO-Link)Proficiency in industrial communication protocols (TCP-IP, OPC-UA)Strong troubleshooting skills for complex systemsHands-on experience with camera systems and Linux OS (preferred)Familiarity with version control systems like gitKnowledge of Object-Oriented Industrial Programming (OOIP)Experience in managing automation software development, including design, integration, troubleshooting, and optimizationProject management skills, including commissioning and SAT processesExcellent communication skills across diverse cultural contextsKnowledge of safety standards and certification processes for machineryExperience with automation solutions such as conveyors, sorters, and robotic work cellsAbility to write requirements and technical specificationsConducting technical reviews and reportingLeading discussions on automation scalability strategies with cross-functional teamsAbout the teamYou will coordinate software library and application development for AMZL, working with product owners and technical stakeholders to define software architecture for new automation and robotics concepts, ensuring standardization and scalability. You will analyze vendor-made tech and integrate it into AMZL's software architecture, overseeing testing and commissioning at the AMZL Innovation Center.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or equivalent- Experience programming in modern languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby- Experience in systems design, software development, automation, and process improvement- Experience with tools for building, testing, releasing, or monitoring- Professional software/system development experience (non-internship)- Programming experience in Codesys- Experience in automation product software development- Design and validation experience of complex control systems- Proven project management capabilities- Experience reviewing electrical drawings (Eplan, Elecamad), CAD, and simulation tools- Managing complex automation projects involving multiple teams and stakeholdersPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master's degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar- Experience with Machine Learning, IoT, AI platformsAmazon is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity.
