Network Design Engineer (LAN / WAN / Wireless – Office Moves)

The Role
We’re looking for a skilled Network LAN / WAN Engineer to support the day-to-day engineering and delivery of enterprise network and wireless environments across a global estate. This is a hands-on technical role with strong exposure to office moves, renewals, and large-scale wireless network design, working closely with Real Estate and Service Delivery Programme teams.
The role sits within a global function, requiring strong technical ownership, collaboration with vendors and managed service providers, and the ability to design and deliver resilient, high-availability network solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Engineering and supporting LAN, WAN, and Wireless production network environments
* Designing and delivering high-availability, resilient network solutions
* Supporting office moves and office renewals in line with defined network standards
* Leading and contributing to wireless coverage design, signal optimisation, and performance tuning
* Assisting Operations teams with root cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting
* Working closely with vendors on service lifecycles, roadmaps, and hardware refresh plans
* Managing production hardware lifecycle with external partners
* Evaluating Managed Service Provider technical capabilities and performance
* Tracking availability and driving the elimination of recurring incidents
Technical Skills & Experience
* Strong hands-on experience with enterprise wireless network design and delivery
* Proven expertise in Aruba Wireless design, management, and standardisation
* Experience designing, implementing, and supporting high-density enterprise wireless networks
* Experience creating predictive wireless surveys, using tools such as:
* Airwave VisualRF (preferred)
* Ekahau
* AirMagnet
* Solid understanding of routing protocols and tiered network design
* Experience with SD-WAN (VeloCloud) and associated transport technologies
* Deep working knowledge of 802.11 standards, RF propagation, antenna technologies, and interference analysis
* Ability to optimise RF performance and resolve issues in challenging wireless environments
* Experience supporting voice applications over wireless, such as Microsoft Teams
* Experience working as part of a global, multinational IT function
