Overview
Quantum Software Architect — Full-time | Germany (flexible locations considered)
A fast-growing quantum technology company is developing scalable quantum computing platforms designed to solve problems beyond the reach of classical machines. Their systems combine cutting-edge hardware with advanced control and software stacks, enabling breakthroughs across science, technology, and industry.
They are now seeking a Quantum Software Architect to shape and lead the development of their quantum software infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and implement the architecture of the quantum software stack, spanning front-end (programming language / compiler interface) and back-end (hardware-specific compiler) components.
* Lead performance benchmarking and scaling studies for quantum algorithms across different hardware targets.
* Drive hardware / software co-design in collaboration with research, engineering, and architecture teams.
* Establish high standards for maintainable, scalable, and testable code within the software group.
* Monitor and integrate algorithmic and architectural advances into the technology roadmap.
* Contribute to full-stack design decisions, including system scalability and configuration strategies.
Your Profile
* Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
* 3+ years of industry or R&D experience in quantum software, compilers, or architectures.
* Strong knowledge of quantum algorithms, circuit models, and compiler optimization.
* Familiarity with error correction techniques and trade-offs in system architecture.
* Hands-on experience with frameworks such as Qiskit or Cirq.
* Proficiency in Python and at least one lower-level language (e.g. Rust, C++).
* Collaborative, structured working style with excellent communication skills in English.
Desirable Extras
* Prior involvement in designing or implementing quantum compilers in a research or product-driven environment.
* Proven success in hardware / software co-design initiatives.
* Strategic decision-making that has influenced technical roadmaps and implementation approaches.
