Large Language Models (LLMs) are transforming Machine Learning but pose challenges in business applications due to their limited understanding of structured and unstructured business data such as business data models, business process metadata and documentation, which slows the development progress. It is SAP's mission to overcome these challenges within the realm of Business AI. Our goal is to provide Knowledge Graphs (KG) as key differentiators to address LLM challenges like hallucination and compliance and to deliver distinctive generative AI solutions to our customers.
As a (Senior) Data Engineer (f/m/d), you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the data engineering activities for the Business Knowledge Graphs team at SAP.
1. Unique opportunity to contribute to the development of Knowledge Graph solutions covering SAP domain knowledge and providing grounding to LLM applications (e.g. Joule).
2. Build ETL pipelines to lead the ingestion of data, metadata, and other development artifacts into our Knowledge Graph.
3. Partner with domain experts across different lines of business (LoB) at SAP, understand and interpret their data, metadata, and other development artifacts and make it consumable in our Knowledge Graph.
4. Extract relevant information from various LoB data sources for further processing and enrichment of our large-scale Knowledge Graph serving the Foundation Model and other LLM use cases.
5. Contribute to design and build stable and scalable applications.
What you bring
6. Bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, physics, mathematics, or other relevant disciplines
7. 3+ years of related professional hands-on experience with pipelines ingesting and transforming data in data science projects
8. Proficiency in Python - Capability to implement efficient complex algorithms to extract and analyse data from sophisticated formats (e.g.: Abstract Syntax Trees, CDS CSN, OpenAPI, OData EDMX, BPMN)
9. Hands-on experience with any of the cloud stacks (AWS, GCP, Azure)
10. Experience with object stores, relational databases or vector databases is a must
11. Curiosity and interest to experiment and adopt new technologies and frameworks
12. Ability to work effectively in distributed, cross-cultural teams
13. Experience building ETL pipelines with Metaflow, Airflow or similar frameworks is a plus
14. Experience with Knowledge Graph technologies (e.g., RDF, SPARQL) is a plus
15. Understanding of SAP S/4HANA backend (ABAP and Data Dictionary) and data models (e.g., VDM, CDS Views, RAP, OData) or experience with BTP is a plus
