Accounting & Tax Head (m/w/d)_Eschborn
Position Summary: The Accounting & Tax Head oversees all accounting operations and tax compliance for a newly established European subsidiary. The role is accountable for end-to-end financial reporting under both IFRS and German GAAP (HGB), as well as all tax-related obligations in Germany and in the countries where projects are executed. The Accounting & Tax Head ensures the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, leads audit processes, and supports group consolidation reporting to headquarters. The role also requires effective communication with headquarters on finance and accounting matters, supported by strong cross-cultural communication skills between Germany and Korea.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Journal Entry & Closing Management: Review and verify accounting entries for construction projects and general operating expenses; prepare and execute period-end adjustment entries.
* IFRS Reporting: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes under IFRS; prepare consolidation packages for reporting to Korean headquarters.
* Financial Statement Conversion: Perform conversion of financial statements from IFRS to German GAAP (HGB) for statutory reporting purposes.
* Audit Support: Coordinate and respond to external audit requests; serve as the primary interface with auditors throughout the audit cycle.
* Tax Compliance — Germany: Manage all aspects of German tax obligations including corporate income tax (Körperschaftsteuer), trade tax (Gewerbesteuer), and VAT (Umsatzsteuer).
* Cross-Border VAT: Review and assess VAT applicability by project country; prepare and support VAT filing submissions across relevant jurisdictions.
* Project Support: Provide accounting and tax support for business projects as required, including ad hoc analyses and process improvements.
* Intercultural Communication: Manage finance-related communication with the Korean headquarters, ensuring accurate and timely information exchange between the European subsidiary and Korean HQ teams.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications/Experiences:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as AICPA or CFA are an advantage.
2. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or tax.
3. Solid working knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB); hands-on experience with financial statement conversion between the two frameworks.
4. Strong analytical skills with a structured, solution-oriented approach to complex accounting and tax matters.
5. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (required); SAP CO/FI experience is required.
6. Fluent in English at C2 level or above (required) and German at B2 level or above (required); Korean language skills are a strong advantage.
