About the Role:
As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing BioNTech's cloud infrastructure. Your expertise will support our mission to develop innovative immunotherapies and vaccines by ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient cloud environments. Operating at the intersection of development and operations, you will leverage modern DevOps principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate processes and enable IT services that drive our success.
Your Contribution:
* Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure with a focus on scalability and security
* Automate provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) and scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell
* Optimize cloud environments for performance, cost-efficiency, and high availability
* Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions or Jenkins to enhance development workflows
* Collaborate across teams to ensure best practices in DevSecOps are followed
* Mentor junior engineers while driving adoption of cloud technologies within the organization
A Good Match:
* Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer working with AWS
* Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep) in real-world projects
* Practical experience with containers and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, EKS/AKS/GKE)
* Hands-on experience setting up and running CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
* Solid understanding of cloud networking, security and IAM (e.g. VPCs, security groups, firewalls, roles, policies)
* Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g. Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation
* Experience operating and monitoring production systems, including incident response
* Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability
* Ability to work collaboratively within agile teams while leading technical initiatives
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
