The Medical Scientists in UMESciA (https://www.uni-due.de/med/umescia/) will closely interact with the Clinical Scientists of the UMEA program (Universitätsmedizin Essen Clinician Scientist Academy; https://www.uni-due.de/med/umea/index.php) to foster direct access to clinical biosamples and deep understanding of clinically relevant research topics. The scientific activities are accompanied by a structured qualification program and awarded with a certificate at the end of the 2.5 year program. Parallel academic qualification towards habilitation is supported by UMESciA. Research in UMESciA is embedded within the research interfaces of immuno-oncology and immunotherapy with intensive collaborations into the other research focus areas of the faculty: cardiovascular medicine, transplantation, and translational neuro and behavioral sciences. The primary research scheme of UMESciA will address immunobiological mechanisms and therapies of cancer, immunotherapy-driven cardio-vascular side effects, innovative adoptive cellular therapy, and the interplay of infection and cancer. These positions are ideal for candidates, who have already published in high-ranking journals and now wish to continue their career in one of the leading cancer centers in Germany. You will be embedded into a vibrant network of translational researchers with active interconnection to the local German Cancer Consortium and Clinician Scientist Programs.
