YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your focus is on drug discovery projects and being an active member of highly interdisciplinary and cross-organizational teams
Using your expertise in protein biology, you develop strategies to understand the links between targets and modalities, identify tailored lead finding approaches and develop relevant assay systems to probe target biology
You develop biochemical assays for enzymes, protein-protein interaction and protein degradation
You establish novel enzymatic readout cascades, analysis of enzyme kinetics and study of biophysical drug / protein interaction
Identifing druggable entry points and relevant MoAs and establishing biochemical assays in high throughput formats (e.g. TR-FRET, FP) fall under your tasks
Performing High Throughput Screens with robotic systems is part of your responsibility
You critically assess key scientific questions in projects and develop and execute fit-to-purpose biological assays for data driven decision making
You seamlessly collaborate with disease biologists, modality experts, drug discovery scientists and computational biologists to develop state-of-the-art methods and techniques to answer complex biological questions
You keep up to date with the latest advances in assay development and drug discovery technologies by scouting innovation opportunities with external partners
You engage with the broader scientific community through publications and conference presentations
Supervising and mentoring lab associates, interns and postdocs to drive scientific projects are part of your function
WHO YOU ARE
You have completed a PhD degree in Biochemistry or equivalent with post-graduate training in an industrial or academic environment
You bring initial work experience and expertise in biochemical assay development (e.g. TR-FRET, Flourescence Polarisation), and its application to complex biological problems in drug discovery
You demonstrate a deep knowledge of enzymology, enzyme kinetics, protein / protein interaction assays
Your experience in protein expression and production in eukaryotic, insect and bacterial cells contributes to your profile
You have expert understanding of, and have worked with, a variety of biophysical methods like SPR, TSA, MS or MST
Your knowledge of structural biology (X-Ray, cryoEM, alphafold, molecular modelling, etc.) is a plus
You have hands-on experience with protein biology, structural biology, molecular biology and lab automation
You exhibit broad knowledge of modalities available to address different targets
You are digitally literate, with the ability to use digital analysis tools to effortlessly communicate with computational biologists and data scientists
You are a strategic thinker with a strong interest for drug discovery, driven by the purpose of helping patients in need
Your fluent English with excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills to work across functions and within external collaborations rounds off your profile
