The Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research (MPS) in Göttingen is one of the world's leading research institutions in the field of solar physics and planetary research with around 300 employees. The interdisciplinary research focus is the investigation of the development, diversity and dynamics of planets, moons, small bodies, the sun and solar-like stars. The MPS develops and operates scientific instruments for current and future space missions (e.g. ESA, NASA), and carries out cosmochemical laboratory investigations of meteorites as well as numerical modeling on state-of-the-art supercomputers.
The MPS conducts fundamental research in the field of solar and planetary sciences. For design, building, and testing of a digital electronic device onboard ESA's EnVision mission to Venus the institute is looking for an
Electronics / System Engineer (m/f/d)
Your Tasks
* Implementation of a digital electronic device under development for spaceflight.
* Planning and executing test campaigns for electronic devices.
* Evaluation of test results and reporting (technical documentation preparation).
* Technical coordination of the implementation of electronic devices.
Your Qualification
* High motivation, problem-solving attitude, be a continuous learner, and a team player.
* University degree (Master) in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience in space projects (ESA, NASA, etc.) desired.
* Good knowledge of English (spoken and written).
Additional Information
* The full-time position can be filled starting June 1st, 2026, if funding is confirmed by the German Space Agency DLR. Employment is initially limited in time until March 31st, 2027, with a likely extension until Dec 31st, 2029.
* Remuneration is according to the German public salary scale up to TVöD-Bund E14.
* Part-time teleworking can be negotiated.
* Social security benefits are in accordance with the public service regulations.
