As part of ongoing investment into focus markets and the need to drive development & construction of existing secured pipeline, whilst originating fresh multi-gigawatt opportunities, they are looking to secure a General Counsel to join their high-performing management team. The Role: Own the legal strategy and governance framework for all German operations across offshore, onshore, and trading. Advise the Board and C-suite on risk management, compliance, and corporate governance. Lead negotiations and oversee legal input on multi-billion-euro joint ventures, partnerships, and project financings. Direct and coordinate external counsel across high-value disputes, claims, and complex transactions. Shape regulatory and permitting strategies, including EEG and wider European frameworks. Build and lead a high-performing in-house legal function, setting standards and scaling capability in line with business growth. Act as a key partner to commercial and operational leaders, ensuring legal solutions enable delivery at pace. The Person : Fully qualified lawyer status in Germany ideally with an LL.M. or international legal experience. 12 years’ post-qualification experience, with a proven track record in energy, infrastructure, or regulated industries. Board-level advisory experience with deep knowledge of corporate governance, M&A, project finance, and regulatory law. Demonstrated ability to lead complex negotiations and manage high-stakes disputes. Executive presence, gravitas, and the ability to influence across senior stakeholder groups. Fluency in German and English, with excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills. Clear progression within a global renewable energy group.
