On-site, Berlin, as soon as possible Join our innovative climateTech startup as a Working Student Chemist and contribute to one of humanity’s most urgent challenges: enabling a carbon-negative future. Your Role As a Working Student Chemist, you will be part of NeoCarbon’s Product team. You will support laboratory research, including the synthesis, functionalization, and testing of new sorbent materials for Direct Air Capture (DAC). What You Will Do Carry out heterogeneous reactions for the development of DAC sorbents. Perform analytical and chemical characterization of sorbent materials (e.g., FT-IR, TGA, EA) to assess reaction success and yield. Assist in scaling up reactions, including designing experimental setups and performing quality-control tests. Conduct literature reviews, contribute ideas for improving the sorbent system, and run small-scale experiments to validate or de-risk assumptions. Support general lab operations both in our wet lab and dry lab, e.g. experiment pre-work and post-work. What We Are Looking For Enrolled master’s student in Chemistry or Materials Science. Previous hands-on laboratory experience in the synthesis and functionalization of porous inorganic and polymeric materials. Familiarity with analytical techniques such as FT-IR, TGA, and porosity characterization. Critical and independent thinker with the ability to analyze data and optimize synthetic methodologies. Proactive, reliable, and a strong team player. Availability of up to 20 hours/week on-site in Berlin. Passion for climate and sustainability.
