To strengthen our Europe organization, we are hiring a Product & Solutions Manager – Energy Systems/Trading based in Reutlingen (BW) to ensure regional product compliance, technical competitiveness, and structured alignment between European market requirements and global development teams.
Position Summary
This individual contributor role is responsible for ensuring that our residential and C&I energy systems are fully compliant, technically competitive, and successfully deployed in the European market. Support and lead local certification and product listing processes for energy storage systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and market access requirements.
The position acts as the primary technical interface between the European region and global HQ teams, with responsibility for regulatory alignment, localization priorities, and complex solution support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the strategy and execution of entry into European electricity markets, including but not limited to:
* Wholesale markets (Day-ahead / Intraday)
* Imbalance markets
* Ancillary services (e.g. FCR, aFRR, mFRR)
* Technical areas includes grid connection, wiring, VDE, EN, etc.
2. Develop and manage partnerships with:
* Virtual Trading Parties (VTPs)
* Licensed energy suppliers / utilities
* Aggregators and trading platforms
3. Identify and evaluate routes to market, including:
* Direct market access vs. partnership models
* Licensing requirements and regulatory pathways
* Commercial models for energy storage monetization
4. Act as the key interface between our company and:
* Energy traders
* Utilities
* Market operators (e.g. TSO / DSO)
5. Support the design of VPP (Virtual Power Plant) strategies aligned with local market rules.
6. Support local certification and product listing processes for energy storage systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory and market access requirements.
7. Provide market intelligence and regulatory insights across key regions
(e.g. Netherlands, Germany, UK)
8. Collaborate with internal teams (product, solution, regulatory) to ensure:
* Technical compatibility with market requirements
* API / dispatch / control integration readiness

* Coordination of certification and regulatory priorities
* Technical interface to global HQ teams

Candidate Profile
Education
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or comparable technical discipline
Professional Experience
* Minimum 3 years of experience in European electricity markets, with hands-on exposure to power trading / energy markets / balancing mechanisms
* Strong experience working with or within Virtual Trading Parties (VTP) / licensed electricity suppliers / energy trading firms or aggregators
* Deep understanding of at least one key market:
* Netherlands (e.g. TenneT balancing market)
* Germany (e.g. EPEX Spot, ancillary services)
* Proven track record in:
* Market access strategy
* Commercial partnerships
* Energy storage or flexibility assets monetization
* Familiarity with:
* VPP / Decentral Energy Resources (DER) aggregation
* API-based dispatch / remote control systems
* Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and licensing requirements
Technical Competencies
* Experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS), DER, or renewable integration
* Existing network with installers, traders, aggregators, utilities, or TSOs in Europe
* Experience in fast-growing or cross-border energy businesses
* Structured and documentation-oriented working style
Languages
* German (native or near-native level)
* English (business fluent)
* Mandarin is an advantage but not required
