The Global Customs Office ("GCO") is part of the International Legal Department (SD 71). As a "Center of Excellence", it advises all business units (divisions) of the DHL Group worldwide, including Corporate Functions, Global Business Services and Service Lines, on topics, issues and projects in the area of customs, indirect taxes and cross-border trade regulations. The GCO also performs tasks as a central "Customs Compliance" function, developing Group-wide guidelines and standards and monitoring their implementation. The GCO team supports the divisions for general regulatory issues, procedural compliance issues, and vis-à-vis customs and other authorities.

Senior Expert (m/f/d) 719-3 / AT nltd Level 2 (BesGr A14/A15)

Main tasks:

Regulatory Affairs Senior Specialist (m/f/d)

Responsibility for and management of current and future regulatory topics and issues of the DHL Group in the area of "Environmental, Social and Governance" (ESG) and Prohibitions and Restrictions (P&R) in connection with cross-border movement of goods and customs, such as the CO2 Border Adjustment Mechanism - CBAM ("ESG/P&R Issues")

* Support the department management of the Global Customs Office in strategic decisions and fundamental issues related to ESG compliance and customs topics
* Development of group-wide guidelines and process standards on ESG/P&R Issues and ensuring their implementation
* Management of all matters relating to Customs-related ESG/P&R Issues with a regional focus (including Europe)
o Monitoring of regulatory developments in the area of Customs-related ESG/P&R Issues
o Assessment of the impact on the DHL Group and its divisions and determination of necessary measures with regard to risk mitigation and sustainable strategic development
o Ensuring that internal stakeholders are informed about all relevant internal and external developments and measures
o Preparation and presentation of topics with high-risk exposure for the DHL Group to senior management
* Ensuring that the GCO fulfils its tasks and goals as a "Center of Excellence" by advising and supporting the divisions as well as Group Functions with regard to Group guidelines and standards, process issues, as well as escalations on Customs-related ESG/P&R Issues
o Central contact person and escalation point for Customs-related ESG/P&R Issues for central functions, the legal department, divisions, and ESG departments
o Target group-specific advice on the implementation or adaptation of Group guidelines and standards as well as on the development and implementation of necessary processes as well as monitoring and control measures
o Support in the detection and assessment of legal risks as well as determination of necessary measures
* Advising the divisions on government requests, investigations or audits directly related to Customs-related ESG/P&R Issues
* Participating in and supporting cross-sectoral projects on Customs-related ESG/P&R Issues
* Participation in national and European trade associations, as well as coordination and implementation of interest representation in coordination with the divisions and the Group representative office.
* Participation and support of the Divisional Legal Practice Groups, the Regional Customs Knowledge Groups of the GCO and other working groups in relation to Customs-related ESG/P&R Issues

Professional Requirements:

* Completed university degree with a focus on law or a comparable qualification
* Several years of professional experience in the field of ESG and P&R, preferably with basic knowledge of customs law and experience in the logistics sector
* High affinity for understanding legal regulations, managing complex issues, and logistical business models and processes
* Willingness to upskill your expertise in customs law and to take on responsibility for them
* Experience in the field of implementing and ensuring compliance guidelines and standards
* Very good knowledge and experience in project management
* Very good MS Office skills
* Excellent German and English language skills
