Job Description:
Looking for a telecommunication/networking expert to help implement AI model inference on programmable network nodes in 5G/6G settings. The workload will be distributed across heterogeneous hardware such as switches, SmartNICs, and base stations.
Tasks
1. Define constraints on KPIs like latency, resource footprint, bandwidth for various network types (RAN, WAN, LAN, MEC).
2. Assist in implementing AI models on distributed heterogeneous telecommunication hardware.
3. Adjust implementations for different networking protocols (IPv6, Ethernet, TSN, HTTP).
4. Design scalable scheduling, orchestration, and resource allocation algorithms.
5. Lead technical validation and prototyping with early adopters.
6. Collaborate on grant writing, product roadmap, and tech strategy.
7. Hire and mentor engineers and researchers as the team grows.
Requirements
1. Based in Germany with valid Niederlassungserlaubnis or German citizenship.
2. Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
3. Strong understanding of 5G/6G stack system hierarchy.
4. Experience with energy efficiency, sustainability, high-throughput design.
5. Experience with distributed computing and orchestration in edge-to-cloud networks.
6. Proven ability to develop end-to-end systems from prototype to deployment.
7. Fluent in English; German is a bonus.
8. Background in AI models for embedded/edge devices, optimization techniques.
Hardware Design
1. Design of AI accelerators for FPGAs or ASICs.
2. Circuit-level optimization, HLS, RTL design experience.
This is a non-paid position currently, with equity considered at founding.
