The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg is Europe's largest solar research institute. Our approximately 1,400 employees work toward a sustainable, economical, secure, and socially equitable energy supply system based on renewable energies. We contribute to this goal with our research priorities in energy supply, energy distribution, energy storage, and energy use. Through outstanding research results, successful industrial projects, spin-offs, and global collaborations, we are shaping the sustainable transformation of the energy system.

Would you like to play an active role in shaping the energy transition and gain practical experience in research-oriented solar module production? Then join our team!

The Module Technology Operations group is part of the Modular Technology department and is responsible for smooth production and experiments at our research production facilities. Our focus areas are quality assurance, process optimization, and digitalization.
At the heart of our work is matrix shingle technology, an innovative interconnection technology that uses conductive adhesives for high-efficiency solar cells. With its characteristic brickwork appearance, this technology is ideal for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), and we continuously advance these pioneering module technologies in close collaboration with industry partners. As a student assistant, you will work on these systems together with your colleagues and experience research production firsthand.

For our "Module Technology Operations" group, we are looking for a student assistant to start as soon as possible.

What you will do
 * You will be trained step by step in plant operation and actively support ongoing production processes.
 * You will support the execution of quality controls in parallel with production and prepare the product for further processing or shipping.
 * You will prepare the production and testing processes, e.g., by attaching connectors or cutting films to size, and organize the corresponding workflows.
 * You will take on administrative tasks, e.g., by processing orders and documenting the production steps.
 * You will help maintain the general laboratory infrastructure, e.g., by replenishing consumables and keeping workstations tidy.

What you bring to the table
 * You are studying materials science, engineering, natural sciences, or a comparable field.
 * You are interested in solar cell and module technology or are willing to learn about it.
 * You are skilled with your hands and motivated to learn how to use production equipment.
 * You work reliably and independently and take responsibility for your tasks.
 * You have excellent communication skills and can communicate confidently in both German and English.
 * You are proficient in MS Office (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
 * It is important to you to contribute to your team and to achieve common goals through interdisciplinary collaboration.
