Job Title: Silicon Test and Validation Engineer
Location: Regensburg, Germany (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Daily Rate: €40–50/hr (all-inclusive, including travel)
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Silicon Test and Validation Engineer to join our team in Regensburg. This role involves developing cutting-edge optical metrology solutions, from hardware engineering to test software implementation, and ensuring the successful transition from R&D to production. The position requires up to 30% domestic and international travel.
Key Responsibilities:
* Define, design, and develop optical metrology solutions including hardware engineering, test software implementation, and instrument qualification.
* Develop benchtop and production instrumentation to characterize complex optical modules and integrated systems (display and optics).
* Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics.
* Explore novel optical metrology technologies and collaborate with suppliers on prototype development.
* Lead full cycle of tester development against engineering requirement specifications, taking ownership of transferring metrology technologies from R&D to mass production.
* Establish and perform tester alignment and calibration procedures to ensure accurate and reliable data.
* Work with engineering design teams to clarify and refine performance metric definitions for test solution implementation.
Qualifications:
* BS in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline with 2+ years of experience, or an Advanced Degree in Optical Engineering/Physics.
* Hands-on experience in optical metrology development, from concept to system validation.
* In-depth knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology, and characterization.
* Experience in test automation (instrument control, data collection, and analysis) using LabView, Matlab, or Python.
* Proficiency in statistical data analysis using Minitab or JMP.
* Professional-level proficiency in English.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
Work Model & Travel:
* Hybrid work with 3 days onsite in Regensburg .
* Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
