Business Development Director Job Description

As a Business Development Director, you will lead the development of business opportunities and drive revenue growth in your designated geographic area. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain strategic relationships with key accounts, identify new business opportunities, and develop strategies to increase sales.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical or pharmaceutical development and/or manufacturing, with at least 8 years of relevant industry experience. They must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.

* Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve revenue growth targets.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research and networking.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective execution of business development plans.


Requirements:

* Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience in chemical or pharmaceutical development and/or manufacturing.
* 5+ years of technical, sales, project management and/or business development experience.
* Proven track record of success meeting or exceeding goals/targets.
* Strong knowledge of selling skills and selling strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
* Bachelor's degree in Life Science (preferably in Chemistry-related field), Business, Marketing, or related Technical degree, or equivalent training and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters (MS) in Life Sciences.
* Previous team leader or managerial position with direct reports.
* Experience selling products/services that typically require longer sales cycles (9 – 24 months).

Key Responsibilities:
