At Ocafi, we don’t just trade coffee; we pave the way for ethical excellence from farm to cup. Since 2017, we have connected the heart of Brazilian coffee farming to the pulse of global consumption. As we grow our Berlin-based team, we are looking for an Operations Manager—the engine room of our business—to oversee the journey of our coffee from Brazil to Germany and beyond.
The Role
You will be the architect of our efficiency. You’ll take full ownership of our global and domestic supply chain, lead a small but dedicated logistics team, and ensure that our operational backbone is strong enough to support our ambitious sales goals. You will report directly to the Founder, freeing them from daily oversight so the business can scale.
What You’ll Do
* Team Leadership: Direct management of the Internal Logistics (Europe) coordinator and the Roasting & Samples Intern. You are their mentor and the person who sets their KPIs.
* End-to-End Logistics: Take full ownership of the freight journey from Brazil to our Hamburg warehouse. You’ll handle customs documentation (BL, Phytos, CoO) and navigate the complexities of international shipping.
* Inventory & Demand Planning: Monitor green coffee stock levels in Hamburg. You’ll work closely with the Sales team to forecast demand and ensure we never run short of our key lines.
* Process Improvement & Quality Control: Implement and manage a Satisfaction Survey for every delivery across Europe and the USA.
* NPS Management: Track and analyze the Net Promoter Score (NPS) from each client, presenting data-driven strategies to improve these scores over time.
* Vendor & Cost Management: Negotiate with freight forwarders and warehouse partners. Audit invoices and identify bottlenecks to reduce operational costs.
* Sample Room Oversight: Supervise the sample room to ensure it’s "exceptionally" organized and manage the procurement of all roasting and shipping supplies.
* Event & Expo Control: Lead the operational setup for the yearly Coffee Expo and other external events, coordinating with marketing agencies for booth materials and collateral.
What You Bring
* Experience: in Operations or Supply Chain Management (experience in coffee, F&B, or perishables is a massive plus).
* Data-Driven Mindset: You are comfortable with NPS and customer satisfaction metrics, using feedback to refine delivery and service standards.
* Logistics Savvy: You understand the "life of a shipment"—from port to warehouse—and aren't intimidated by customs paperwork.
* Leadership: Experience managing direct reports and a track record of improving team productivity.
* Systems Thinker: Proficiency with inventory software, Microsoft Office, and an ability to make digital records match physical stock perfectly.
* The Berlin Hustle: You are comfortable multitasking in a small, 5-FTE environment where "process improvement" might also mean helping out at a trade show booth.
* Languages: Fluent English is a must; German is a significant advantage given our Brazil-Germany axis.
