Your mission
The future of AI computing is light, not electrons. Q.ANT is building photonic processing systems that compute with light—delivering a scalable, energy-efficient alternative to transistor-based architectures for next-generation AI and HPC applications.
As Senior New Product Introduction Engineer, you will be the technical force driving the transition of our photonic computing systems from early-stage R&D to robust, production-ready units. You will be a foundational member of our operations team, building our capabilities from the ground up. Initially, your focus will be on integration and production processes; as our operations mature and technology stabilizes, you will identify opportunities to optimize lab setups and potentially contribute to system architecture.
What You Will Do
* Build our operations capabilities from the ground up to support the assembly of Native Processing Servers, ensuring a seamless transfer from R&D to scalable production.
* Lead the hands-on assembly, testing, and debugging of high-frequency electronics and processor-based systems.
* Develop and refine production workflows, test procedures, and assembly standards to ensure repeatability and scalability.
* Optimize lab setups and equipment utilization to reduce testing overhead and costs, making data-driven decisions on resource allocation.
* Supervise freelancers and external contributors, ensuring they maintain high-level system understanding during assembly.
* Identify and resolve integration and performance bottlenecks, performing root-cause analysis across optical, electrical, and software boundaries.
* Create and maintain accurate test protocols, assembly instructions, and technical process documentation.
Your profile
* Education: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Microsystems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (PhD preferred).
* Experience: 5+ years of experience in high-performance system design and integration. Proven experience transitioning prototypes from early-stage development into manufacturable systems.
* Technical Expertise: You are a generalist with a "T-shaped" profile—possessing broad technical understanding across optical, electrical, and software domains, with depth in at least one.
* Tools & Lab Skills: Proficiency with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, optical measurement tools).
* Independence: High autonomy in planning and executing system integration, with a demonstrated ability to build processes in a startup or early-stage environment where unproven products are the norm.
* Languages: Fluent in English; German or another European language is a plus.
Why us?
* We hire for attitude and train for skills.
* We encourage self responsibility and accelerate professional development.
* We move fast and encourage experimentation.
* You have the opportunity to be part of developing breakthrough photonic computing technology and have a lasting impact on the future of computing.
* You can be part of a passionate international, highly skilled cross functional team.
* You will have access to the founders of the company.
About us
Who we are and what we do
Q.ANT is a deep-tech scale-up developing photonic processing solutions that compute natively with light and deliver a scalable alternative to transistor-based systems. The analog co-processors are optimised for complex computations and enable energy-efficient performance for next-generation AI and HPC applications. In collaboration with the Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart IMS CHIPS, Q.ANT operates its own pilot line for photonic chips, based on the material system Thin-Film Lithium Niobate TFLN. Q.ANT was founded by Michael Förtsch in 2018 and is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.
