Department of Geosciences, Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen
The Geology Group at the University of Tübingen seek to fill a Qualification position (Akademische Rätin/Akademischer Rat) to start at 1.10.2026. The position is initially filled for a period of three years. An extension of up to another three years is possible. Salary will follow the German civil service pay grade E13 at 100%.
The position is embedded in the Geology Research Group at the University of Tuebingen, which is composed of broadly seeking geoscientists with experience in Earth surface processes. Our Geology Research Group has existing strengths in cosmogenic nuclide, thermochronometric and gemorphometric methods applied to geomorphic and tectonic systems. We have a wide range of instrumentation and support for geochemical analysis, geomorphic change detection, and numerical modelling.
Ideally, the candidate will provide complementary skills and a desire to develop a new research focus within the group. A knowledge of landscape evolution modelling and numerical approaches, particularly as applied to surface processes would be a plus.
The position comes with a 4 SWS (roughly one course per semester) teaching requirement. The exact teaching and research directions will depend on the skills and interests of the successful candidate.
Applicants must hold a PhD Degree in Geosciences/Geology or equivalent and provide an excellent understanding of Geology and Geomorphology. Fluency in both spoken and written English is a prerequisite for communication within our international working groups and the publication of results in international journals. Knowledge of German is appreciated, but not a requirement.
The University of Tübingen is committed to equity and diversity and actively promotes equal opportunities. Equally qualified candidates with disabilities will be given preference in the hiring process. Full-time positions are generally suitable for job sharing.
