The Vice President, Business Unit Manager will have P&L responsibility including financial, strategy, production operations, engineering, sales & marketing and IT for a business unit. The leader will have the responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating and controlling the activities of the organization to obtain optimal efficiency and economy of operation to achieve profitability of the business unit.

This position reports directly to the Advanced Motion Solutions SVP/General Manager.

Achieve revenue, profit and other financial targets set for the business:

1. Own the complete P&L for the business – manage the revenue and cost side of the income statement
2. Bridge the gaps between functional teams - sales, marketing, service, operations, supply chain management, finance, HR, IT
3. Double sales within the business cycle through both acquisition and organic growth
4. Drive operating profit to targeted levels, as agreed in strategic plan
5. Ensure plans and forecasts are met or exceeded consistently
6. Aggressively drive working capital, cash flow and other key metrics

Drive Strategy development, Market Expansion and Key Relationships Globally:

7. Develop and execute the 3-5 year business strategy
8. Expand in core markets to ensure organic growth plans are achieved
9. Leverage Value Analysis/Value Engineering to create more value from existing products and accelerate growth
10. Ensure product development roadmap is robust and products are delivered in a timely fashion to meet market demands
11. “Dollarize” products to ensure Company and customers get full value for their investment
12. Manage highest level customer relationships with key customers
13. Expand geographically to capitalize on global growth opportunities

Execute Acquisition Strategy:

14. Develop the acquisition strategy for the business unit
15. Identify potential acquisition targets, working closely with Divisional Leadership and Corporate Group Development team – Target identification, build model, due diligence, integration plans
16. Lead integration of acquired business into Company
17. Drive team to achieve synergies identified in each deal

Drive Operational Excellence:

18. Leverage own expertise to ensure thorough solutions to solve operational issues
19. Bring rigor and focus to operational improvements – ensure strong financial & discipline across business
20. Drive productivity gains and cost improvements to achieve operating profit target
21. Leverage global capabilities to decrease production and supply management costs
22. Maximize material flow and inventory turns to drive down working capital
23. Offset incremental investments with cost reductions in existing business
24. Lead implementation of six sigma and LEAN
25. Leverage Value Analysis to drive cost reductions and complement company initiatives

Develop the Organization Capabilities to Succeed in Short and Long-Term:

26. Identify talent requirements to grow & operate business
27. Hire “A Players” who will drive higher levels of effectiveness
28. Develop managers & employees to increase productivity to ensure retention
29. Judiciously add resources to capitalize on growth opportunities
30. Operate a lean organization of highly skilled contributors
31. Drive change in the organization successfully

Requirements for Consideration

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

32. P&L responsibility for a highly technical business
33. Expert knowledge of financial analysis and reporting
34. Proficiency in developing and implementing tactical and strategic plans
35. Proficiency in Supply Chain Management
36. Demonstrated track record of driving strong employee engagement
37. Strong technical problem solving and advanced management skills
38. Working understanding of Lean Six Sigma processes
39. Customer oriented
40. Formal Education Requirement: BS Degree in Engineering
41. 8-10 years of P&L experience managing an international/global company

51. Coordinates international efforts/processes/reporting

53. Uses resources from different time zones to achieve productivity gains Executive Impact – Holds well under fire, has stature maturity, provides clarity Strategic Focus – Manages strategically from rapid changing altitude
54. Travel of up to 25% or more required

Career Experience:

55. Held roles in multiple functions (at least 3 years)
56. Experience dealing directly with customers
57. Exposure to global organization and business
