We are looking for an experienced Optical Engineer who will strengthen our R&D team and contribute to the development of advanced optical systems for printing machines.
Work locations: Ieper, Belgium (80% presence required) and Willstätt, Germany.
Aufgaben
* Develop advanced optical systems for printing machines, in consultation with project leaders, product managers, and the R&D team. Designs are created in Zemax and transferred to SolidWorks in collaboration with a CAD designer
* Work with optical components such as lenses, mirrors, high/low-power fiber lasers, and LEDs. Machines require mechanical precision at the (sub)micrometer scale, requiring close collaboration with mechanics, electronics, and firmware teams
* Assemble optical test setups, prototypes, and subassemblies, transferring know-how to production and service teams
* Source specialized optical components in coordination with the purchasing department
* Continuously improve optical performance based on feedback from service and production teams
* Report directly to the R&D Director
Profil
* Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in optics, photonics, or applied physics
* Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
* Strong understanding of optical principles; experience with Zemax is essential
* Programming skills (e.g., Matlab) are a plus
* Independent, structured, hands-on and passionate about technology
* Creative problem-solving and out-of-the-box thinking, combined with a collaborative mindset across R&D disciplines (mechanics, electronics, xniyctf and software)
* Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage
