School IT Manager (m/f/d) for the School, Culture, and Sports Office – School Digitization

The School, Culture, and Sports Office of the City of Heilbronn is expanding its school digitization department with three positions for the newly created role of School IT Manager.
As the first point of contact, the School IT Managers will each be responsible for a group of schools in all matters relating to school IT, with a focus on IT-related issues and solutions.
The aim is to ensure smooth IT operations in schools, organize the necessary support services, and further develop the digital infrastructure of schools in line with the overall school IT strategy.
Your important contribution
* Coordination and technical management of the entire IT infrastructure of approximately ten schools, including network infrastructure, server systems, media technology, end devices, system integration, and security, as well as first-level support for media representatives in schools, teachers, and administrative staff: in-depth error analysis, rapid problem solving, and technical advice on a daily basis. Coordination, control, and consultation with external service providers
* Occasional independent installation and maintenance of server systems, media technology, end devices, and complex software solutions
* Initiation of and participation in IT procurement measures. Intensive, target-group-oriented communication with and performance of an important interface function between school administrators, teaching staff, technical IT managers in the school digitization team, as well as other offices and external IT partners. Active participation in challenging cross-school IT projects, such as the introduction of cloud solutions, expansion of AI use, implementation of data protection and IT security concepts, as well as ongoing maintenance of IT documentation, inventory lists, etc
What you should bring to the table
* Degree in computer science, completed training in the IT field, or comparable qualification with a special focus on IT operations and support
* Several years of practical experience in IT operations and support, preferably in school structures and in dealing with heterogeneous system landscapes
* Analytical thinking, a structured approach to work, and strong skills in independent organization, prioritization, and the development of technical solutions, even for complex challenges
* Very good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a high level of service orientation when dealing with different user groups
* Understanding of educational and school organizational processes and issues, as well as a willingness to familiarize yourself with the specific requirements of schools. Strong teamwork skills and willingness to cooperate with colleagues and external partners.
