Responsibilities
As a PostgreSQL Administrator, you will pioneer the implementation and deployment of the hig
* Designing the implementation and operation of new PostgreSQL databases/plugins
* Programming scripts for the automation (using Ansible and GitLab) of tasks in the database environment (e.g., installation, housekeeping)
* Independently managing and initiating test setups for PostgreSQL databases (e.g., proof of concept for new versions, plugins, testing scripts)
* Regular patching of our PostgreSQL products
Scope of Responsibilities
The Database Management department is responsible for database operations at the German Pension Insurance Data Center (RZ DRV). Our Database Transition team is responsible for the planning and design of the PostgreSQL databases. As a central component of the IT architecture, we play a key role in ensuring the smooth processing of pension transactions. We look forward to welcoming new colleagues to our team in Berlin.
Profile
* A completed university degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s) in IT or an equivalent qualification, such as an IT-specific certification, completed vocational training as an IT specialist, or comparable practical experience in the IT field
* In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL and common PostgreSQL tools
* Practical experience in database administration
* Knowledge and experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving errors in PostgreSQL databases, as well as in working with operating systems (Unix/Linux, Shell)
* Ideally, you already have experience operating high-availability databases on virtualized Linux infrastructure, as well as experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible and GitLab)
* Experience in project work and conceptual documentation is also desirable
* Proactive initiative and creativity in establishing new structures, as well as strong teamwork and communication skills, round out your profile
