At Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the Global IT team is searching for a highly motivated and dedicated
Systems Engineer (all genders)
Full time and permanent
to support the provisioning, operation, and continuous optimization of our Linux-based IT infrastructure. This role plays a key part in ensuring system performance, security, and scalability across the enterprise, while driving automation and supporting end users in a global environment.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Install, configure, and manage Linux servers to ensure a stable and efficient IT environment
2. Plan and implement new servers and maintain existing systems
3. Perform regular updates and patching to ensure system security and stability
4. Monitor security bulletins and implement patches in a timely manner
5. Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities through analysis, monitoring, and preventive measures
6. Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive logging platform using Elasticsearch and Logstash
7. Ensure reliable collection, indexing, and storage of log data from various IT systems
8. Monitor, maintain, and optimize the performance and availability of the logging infrastructure
9. Perform regular updates, configuration changes, and maintenance activities
10. Diagnose and resolve issues related to system performance, log data collection, processing, and storage
11. Analyze server performance and implement optimization measures to ensure high availability and efficiency
12. Advise and support end users on server infrastructure needs and technical questions
13. Provide training to ensure effective use of server resources
14. Automate recurring tasks and complex processes using scripting and tooling
Additional Responsibilities:
15. Create, maintain, and continuously update operational, process, and system documentation
16. Participate in IT projects focused on developing, optimizing, and modernizing the IT infrastructure
Qualifiactions:
17. Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
18. Ideally several years of experience in Linux server administration, preferably in an enterprise environment
19. Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and related technologies is an advantage
20. In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu) and virtualization technologies
21. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation
22. Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
23. Strong security awareness and experience handling security vulnerabilities
24. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
25. Clear communication skills with the ability to explain technical topics to end users
26. Team-oriented mindset and willingness to support colleagues
