Senior Operations Manager (f/m/x) – Inland water transport
Location: Germany (Duisburg, Hamburg) / Netherlands / Belgium
Your Responsibilities:
Managing the end-to-end chartering and scheduling of barges and inland vessels Acting as a reliable, strategic contact for key clients and partners Coordinating with shippers and service providers, and overseeing the full transport process – from planning to delivery Leading daily operational meetings to ensure smooth execution across teams Conducting onboard vessel visits to maintain strong communication with crews and monitor service quality Maintaining and developing long-term customer relationships through regular contact and personal visits
Your Profile: At least 5 to 10 years of experience in inland shipping or in managing transport operations for chemical products The ability to manage both operational logistics and customer-facing responsibilities Strong sense of ownership, reliability, and organizational skills Confident communicator with customers, crews, and internal teams You are fluent in English; German and/or Dutch are highly valued, and French is a plus
