Your Responsibilities
* Architect and Lead: Define and own the long-term cloud architecture vision, ensuring alignment with business goals while guiding the evolution of our AWS-native infrastructure from concept to production.
* Technical Leadership: Mentor and influence engineering teams across the organization, promoting cloud-native best practices, setting coding standards, and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
* Infrastructure as Code at Scale: Drive the design and implementation of highly automated, resilient, and secure IaC frameworks to ensure rapid deployment and minimal downtime.
* End-to-End Platform Ownership: Oversee the full architecture of the platform—data ingestion, data processing, control systems, and user-facing applications—ensuring performance, maintainability, and extensibility.
* Security and Compliance Leadership: Champion best-in-class security practices and ensure compliance with critical infrastructure and regulatory requirements, embedding security deeply into every stage of the development lifecycle.
* Operational Excellence: Establish organization-wide monitoring, observability, and incident management practices that maximize system resilience and enable proactive performance improvements.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, data engineers, ML engineers and developers to align technical solutions with business priorities, bridging strategic needs with scalable cloud architectures.
* Strategic Foresight: Anticipate future technical challenges and scalability needs, identifying opportunities to reduce complexity, improve cost efficiency, and accelerate innovation across the platform.
Your Profile
Mandatory requirements
* 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering or software engineering, with at least 3+ years of deep, hands-on expertise in AWS cloud platforms, building and scaling production-grade infrastructure.
* Proven experience in defining and evolving cloud architecture at scale, with ownership across multiple systems, services, or platforms.
* Strong background in software engineering, with expertise in one or more programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash), and ability to set coding standards for cloud-related tooling.
* Deep knowledge of AWS services such as API Gateway, DynamoDB, Lambda, IAM, ECS, EKS, CloudFormation, and the ability to select and apply the right services to complex business problems.
* Demonstrated experience supporting containerized applications and microservices architectures, including orchestration, CI/CD, and automated deployment strategies.
* Hands-on expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK), with experience implementing IaC frameworks and governance at an organizational scale.
* Strong experience in security, compliance, and operational excellence, with a track record of embedding these practices into production systems.
* Ability to influence cross-functional teams and mentor engineers, providing technical leadership beyond direct project contributions.
* Proven track record of delivering complex, mission-critical solutions in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
* Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate scaling and reliability challenges before they occur.
* Deep experience configuring and maintaining monitoring and alerting solutions such as Grafana or Prometheus;

I'm Christian Buckl, Head of Software at Entrix & Flexa. My professional journey has been deeply rooted in the intersection of technology and industry spanning areas such as autonomous driving and cloud-based systems that serve millions of users. Over the years, I've had the privilege of contributing to various innovative projects and leading teams dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in our field.
* At Lyft (2018–2024), I initially built the in-car middleware system for autonomous driving. Later, my team and I developed the in-house mapping stack—including the routing engine and estimated-time-of-arrival (ETA) system—powering millions of rides.
* At Apple (2016–2018), I led a team in the Special Projects Group focused on autonomous systems.
* At Siemens (2015–2016), I spearheaded software development for a startup within Siemens, creating a hardware/software platform for autonomous electric vehicles.
* Before that, I was a founding member of fortiss, a non-profit research organization in Munich.
