I am partnering with a leading Biotechnology company at the forefront of oncology innovation in their search for a Director of Bioinformatics. This is a senior strategic role where you will shape and lead the direction of a talented cross-functional teams of Bioinformaticians, Computational Biologists and ML Experts. You will be integral for driving the development of cutting-edge computational approaches that power oncology drug discovery and translational research.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide strategic and operational leadership for a diverse and growing data analytics team of 10+ experts, including computational biologists, ML Experts, biomathematicians, and cheminformaticians.
* Design and implement advanced bioinformatics strategies and tools that enable new discoveries in cancer biology, therapeutic targets, and biomarker identification
* Drive the exploration of internal and external multi-omics datasets to generate novel scientific insights relevant to oncology and precision medicine.
* Oversee the development and optimization of high-throughput bioinformatics pipelines and ensure robust, scalable data workflows.
* Champion data quality, integrity, and reproducibility, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and best practices in data governance, security, and software validation.
* Apply sophisticated statistical models and AI-driven approaches to model disease mechanisms and predict therapeutic outcomes.
* Foster innovation through partnerships with academic institutions, clinical networks, and pharma collaborators
Ideal Background:
* PhD or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, or a related field
* Extensive experience in oncology-focused bioinformatics, with a strong understanding of multi-omics data integration and translational science
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage multidisciplinary teams
* Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, data standards, and modern software development practices in a life sciences setting
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly across cross-functional teams and external partnerships
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with bioinformatics software and platforms
* Strong background in machine learning, algorithm development, and computational biology applied to multi-omics data.
