To support our team in Leverkusen, we’re currently looking for a Part-Time Veterinarian (m/f/d) who enjoys working hands-on with animals while also serving as a trusted advisor to colleagues and researchers. Responsible for the health and well-being of our animals (mice), ensuring the highest standards of veterinary care. Advise management and animal facility teams on welfare matters, including surgical procedures, anesthesia, analgesia, and biosecurity. Manage the veterinary pharmacy and facilitate internal training for technical staff. Act as a key contact for regulatory authorities and oversee compliance with all applicable animal welfare legislation. Take a lead role in accreditation needs with preparing AAALAC program description and site visits, including documentation, facility readiness, and team awareness. Lead the Animal Welfare Body (AWB) meetings. Support scientists in preparing animal protocol applications for regulatory approval. After onboarding and obtaining the necessary qualifications, assume the role of Animal Welfare Officer (AWO). A degree in Veterinary Medicine and valid license to practice in Germany. Ideally, further qualification in Laboratory Animal Science (e.g., Specialist Vet or EU Function A, B, D) - or willingness to obtain it. Sound knowledge of German animal welfare regulations and experience in laboratory animal care. Experience or strong interest in AAALAC accreditation processes and quality assurance is a plus. Fluency in German and good English skills to collaborate with both local and international colleagues.
