Head of Regulatory Legal & Compliance (m/f/d)
Here at Moonfare, we’re entering a new chapter. As a dynamic, high-growth scale-up disrupting the private equity space, we’re looking for a Head of Regulatory Legal & Compliance to join us at a pivotal moment in our growth journey. You will play a key part in shaping the future of our business as we expand into new territory.
In this high-impact leadership position, you’ll be the driving force behind major, business-critical projects and regulatory initiatives. You’ll help chart the course through a fast-evolving legal landscape, tackling complex challenges with autonomy and influence. This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up in a company that’s redefining access to private markets.
You will:
* Build and lead Moonfare’s Regulatory Legal & Compliance function, by defining a well functioning compliance team that covers the main compliance risks of Moonfare’s activities
* Cover the main compliance risk areas AML/CFT, ABC, Markets Integrity and transversal compliance functions (reporting, controls, training, risk assessments, contact with regulators, external audits etc) together with the team.
* Drive the strategy and execution of all regulatory compliance matters across the business, acting as our go-to expert and key decision-maker
* Take ownership of financial crime prevention, overseeing AML initiatives, working closely with our AMLO and Deputy AML Officer, and staying ahead of emerging risks
* Lead data privacy and GDPR compliance efforts across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring we’re always one step ahead of regulatory expectations
* Ensure full compliance with key frameworks such as MIFID and WpHG while interpreting evolving global regulations in a fast-moving environment
* Act as a strategic advisor to the executive team, providing clarity and guidance on complex compliance challenges and partnering across functions to enable smart growth
* Represent Moonfare with external stakeholders and regulators, building trust and positioning us as a responsible innovator in the private markets space
* Turn ambiguity into opportunity, using your legal and regulatory expertise to help Moonfare scale into new markets with confidence and integrity
The next Moonfarian:
* You bring at least 8 years of experience from a fintech, financial service firm, investment bank, or private equity company
* You have deep expertise in regulatory compliance and strong familiarity with investment services frameworks, including MiFID II, WpHG, KWG, and GwG
* You’re a qualified lawyer with completed Staatsexamen, or you have studied law (preferably holding a diploma), with a solid legal foundation and practical regulatory experience
* You’ve successfully led teams and projects in a legal or compliance capacity, with strong stakeholder management skills and a clear, solutions-oriented mindset
* You have the ability to navigate in complex regulatory environments with confidence
* You bring solid working knowledge of AML and financial crime frameworks, and ideally have experience overseeing these areas
* You’re comfortable working on GDPR and data privacy topics and understand how to embed privacy considerations across a business
* You communicate fluently in both English and German—verbally and in writing—and are confident in representing your function to senior stakeholders
* You’re detail-oriented, structured, and pragmatic, balancing legal accuracy with business needs
